Ginseng Feedback: Absolutely not. Only pseudoscientific.
Science of course looks at herbs, but they isolate the active ingredient/s, test, clinical trial, review, check safety etc, then produce a drug. Followed by further clinical trials FDA approvals etc etc. Long process and they change, update etc upon new evidence as required. Unlike herbalists where you will only get the “dirty” raw product of unknown quality, and they never change anything.
Acupucture under proper clinical trials has only shown minor efficacy for lower back pain - which can be also easily and more cheaply managed with over the counter pain relief medicine - asprin etc.
Be very carfeful when your health is concerned.
Ginseng Feedback: The base for many drugs your doctor treating you with is originated from herbs. Don’t go any further, digitalis is the active ingredients in Foxglove, and since the medical profession synthesised it we cannot use it any more legally. Herbs work, and there is a lot of study regarding them. Just to defend my modality, we do not work with “dirty” material, our medicine is manufactured in manufacturing plants like the medicinal drugs are, the quality of herbs carefully measured for effectiveness and active ingredients, and extracted the most efficient and clean way. I have better results than some GP’s who after 8 minutes consultation “guess” what can be “tried” to see if it is working. I spend 1,5 hour on the first visit with my patients to find out the underlying cause of their condition, and carefully monitor their progress, more closely than any GP would.
Ginseng Feedback: For any natural healing, scientific trials are difficult and expensive to do, as there is no money to be made.
So it is word of mouth, that you hear people getting better.
Any treatment without chemical medicine is better.
Pranayam - breathing techniques is another free way to heal yourself.
Ginseng Feedback: There are actually a number of studies that have been performed on acupuncture testing its effects on pain. There are many promising results showing it to be effective, however, the biomedical mechanism is still not defined within the Western medicine paradigm. (pubmed.org)
As for herbal formulas and homeopathic remedies there is not yet enough money, when compared to pharmaceuticals, for any blinded research to be funded. Evidence is observational for these medicinals, but in many cases, such as Chinese herbal medicine, the evidence has been recorded over more than one thousand years.
